The Coca-Cola Company is a beverage company that manufactures, markets, and sells a wide range of nonalcoholic beverages worldwide. It collaborates with an extensive network of independent bottling partners, distributors, wholesalers, and retailers, as well as bottling and distribution firms. The company was founded in 1886 and is headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia. It is primarily in the beverage industry, specifically the soft-drinks sub-industry and the consumer surplus sector. In terms of listing, the company is traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol KO (The Coca-Cola Company, 2022). This essentially means that the stock market exchange on which the Coca-Cola Company is listed is the New York Stock Exchange, which is a world leader in the stock exchange market.
According to the KO’s 3-year historical chart, we are able to make both a short-term and medium term historical performance of the company stock. Therefore, we can gather and conclusively determine that its average stock price during the three year period is approximately $48.5 (Financial Content Services, Inc., 2022). The company all time high stock price was $ $64.74, and had a low of 42.
A stock split is more of a gimmick than anything else. When a company splits its stock, it’s usually to make it more accessible for small investors. Coca Cola has in the past initiated a stock split, a look at its historical records we can gather that it has had a 2-1 stock split in the 1960s, 2-1 stock split in the 1970s, a 3-1 stock split in the 1980s, followed by a 2-1 split. In the 1990s, there were two 2-1 splits, and another in 2012. In the recent years it has had none and the outlook is that because the stock price stays close to what it was at the end of last year, slightly over $50 per share, there is no reason to believe Coca-Cola will split its stock again (The Coca-Cola Company, 2022). According to the Coca Cola financial records we can establish that as recent as the quarter ending March 31, 2022, the company has shares outstanding amounting to 4335.03 million shares (Yahoo! Finance, 2022).. The records also show that the authorized are 11,200 shares, and the issued shares are 7,040 shares.
Looking at the company stock price and the trend it can be said to offer very little indication regarding its upside potential. However, given that it also has shown a quite decent or albeit conservative upside trend, it is a company that I would invest in if my objective is not to realize maximum possible return from the investment.
There will always be fierce rivalry between Coca-Cola and Pepsi. Even when we take a look at their respective share prices we gather that Coca-Cola’s stock price has risen by around 24 percent in the last three years with its high price at $76.00. Whereas Pepsi Co, performance has been commendable considering that in the same time period realizing a high price of $198.00. Coca Cola previous close is at $64.51, while Pepsi closed at $170.39. In regards to activity we can gather that in its most recent stock activity Coca Cola traded a volume of about 18.98 Million, while Pepsi traded a volume of about 5.82 Million. Comparatively we can establish that Pepsi is the company that is able to return more value to an investor and therefore based on the evaluation I would readily invest in Pepsi. The reason being that it is a much more profitable stock, and investing in Pepsi would give a better return compared to investing in Coca Cola.
